History of Library
The Lancaster Public Library was founded in 1901 and it was the first public library in Grant County. After his death, George Ryland donated his land and home to the library. After housing the library in his home in the middle of Ryland Park for years, the library was rebuilt on the same property with funds from Emma Schreiner to create the Schreiner Memorial Library in 1957. A much needed addition was built in 1982 to expand the library, and the most recent renovation and expansion was completed in 2015.
The Potosi Branch library was opened in 2007 as a joint effort between the Schreiner Memorial Library and the Village of Potosi.
