Spring Election Candidates

City of Lancaster – April 7, 2026 Spring Election Information

The City of Lancaster will hold elections for municipal offices during the April 7, 2026 Spring Election. (*It is not necessary to have a Spring Primary Election in 2026 in the City of Lancaster. There will be no election on 2-17-26.) The following City seats will be on the ballot for two-year terms.

Mayoral Seat

  • Mayor Stuart Harper has announced he will not seek another term.

  • Shayne LaBudda has filed to run for Mayor of Lancaster.

 

Alderperson – District 1 (Wards 1 & 5)

  • Mike Johansen is not seeking reelection.

  • Josh Bierman will be running for District 1 Alderperson.

 

Alderperson – District 3 (Ward 4)

  • Matthew Harper has announced he will be seeking reelection.


Alderperson – At-Large

  • Crystal Riley is not seeking another term.

  • Matt Pennekamp will be seeking reelection.

There are two at-large alderperson seats available. The following three candidates have filed to run:

  • Matt Pennekamp

  • Heather Bontreger

  • Ken Johnson
