Meter Replacement

The Lancaster Water Utility will be doing routine water meter change-outs during the winter months. Customers that are due for a new meter will receive a yellow postcard in the mail asking them to schedule an appointment.  Customers will not be charged for the meter change-out.

The water utility representative will also need to conduct a cross connection survey of the plumbing system in the home or business. A cross connection is a connection between the drinking water system and a possible source of contamination that could enter the drinking water system. If a cross connection violation is found the customer will receive a detailed report explaining the violation.

Water utility employees will have identification and will be driving marked city owned vehicles.  The change-out and survey usually take less than an hour.
