Garbage & Recycling

The City of Lancaster is pleased to provide high-quality garbage and recycling collection services through its contractor, Town and Country Sanitation. 

• 95 gallon "Recycle" container (Yellow Lid) and 95 gallon Garbage container (Black Lid) will be used. 
• For scheduled collection days that fall on a holiday, or the day after a holiday, the pick up will occur one day later. 
• Households with large amounts of waste, such as move outs, which exceed the new limit, must rent a dumpster.  Also, construction debris is not considered household waste and must be placed in a dumpster at the occupant/homeowner’s expense.  Failure to do so will result in fines to the homeowner.

• Place all toters out at the curb by 6 am on day of collection.
• Make sure the arrows on the lids are pointing out towards the alley/curb line.
• Totes need to be at least three (3) feet from any fixed objects such as mailboxes, trees, streetlights, building or parked vehicles, and with a 2-3 foot gap between carts.
• Place the totes at the end of your driveway if possible, or on the boulevard with one (1) foot off the curb.
• If totes on boulevard are blocked in by cars, you may place carts in the street with the wheels against the curb, again with a three (3) foot clearance on either side.
• Position the totes on as level of a surface as possible.
• Lids need to be closed to a substantial degree.

2023 Holiday Schedule (holidays that fall during the work week, garbage pick-up will be one day later): 

Memorial Day: Tuesday's pickup on Wednesday, May 31st

4th of July: Tuesday's pickup on Wednesday, July 5th

Labor Day: Tuesday's pickup on Wednesday, September 6th

Christmas:  Tuesday's pickup on Wednesday, December 27th; Friday's pickup on Saturday, December 30th
